Making art for the purpose of being presented and sold in art galleries doesn’t always fit in my artistic priorities. Since 2020 I have found inspiration in creating momentum for social change in my very conservative community of Jefferson County, Indiana. These are some of the projects that I have created to start conversations and action.

The MAARCH Billboard Project was started in 2020, and our first billboard (pictured) was installed early in 2021. MAARCH chose this design that I created to validate people who were impacted by hateful words and actions tied to the 2020 election. We

We also aimed to frame the work that we do in the buzzword of "kindness" which is often said but not often defined in an inclusive way in our community.

Retire the Rebel was a MAARCH initiative that focuses on continuing conversations about the concerning use of a Confederate themed mascot, Rebels, by our local schools. It was challenging to find venues for constructive conversations about this topic

It was challenging to find venues for constructive conversations about this topic, so we started making crafts for local craft fairs to spread the movement, fundraise for our billboards, and meet people one on one as a venue for productive conversation.

This is where being a "hub" comes in handy because we can contribute as volunteers in planning and on the day of the events, while letting the heart and soul of the events be led by people in the communities they are representing. We recently contributed to events for Martin Luther King Day, The Black History Month Film Festival, and Juneteenth.
